A basic car parking label numbered 1-16 that is being used in the Hartford area right now. After printing, fold in half so both sides are visible and then laminate.

Uconn Metanoia 2009

This is my poster design for Metanoia 2009 referencing the current assault that happens online so often...so often that maybe it is not as noticeable and needs to be payed attention to.

My entries are a little out of order, but that is okay. This is a picture of the 2nd project we did in illustration. This is a smaller version of my fork piece because the scaned size won't upload to blogger. The size in real life is closer to about 26"x18". I used pastel crayons for this one. I had a difficult time getting the details with the material, but I like the rough look of the whole thing. I will remember this next time I use the pastels.

"Marsh Wren" if my final project. The bottom picture is the fist and second page. The middle picture is the third and fourth page. And finally the top picture is the fifth and sixth page. This project consists of collages with different found and collected items, paint, gel acrylic medium, and other mediams. I made seperate artist cards that delt with my bird experiences and a poem i wrote about the Marsh Wren as well. I put the images together on InDesign.

This is another project i completed in illustration class. This project was my favorite of them all. I am very proud of this one. I used colored pencil and beading to create an original August sky with meteor showers. After digitally enhancing the stars I printed out test copies, etc. This piece represents the calender month of August.

This is my bookplate! I can now claim my favorite books as my property. This was my first project in this semester's illustration class. It was alot of fun and i enjoyed playing with the idea of prey verses predator: cat and the fish. The process of making this bookplate included carving out a stamp then scaning in the print. I digitally edited the print in photoshop and here is the final outcome.

I seem to be having problems uploading my work here. Once I figure it out I promise I will have something up here soon to show you. It's harder to keep up with blogging on the internet world since I am so consumed with anything and everything other than the internet.

In other news, I found out what I was interested in has a name: Live Painting! I've already seen some videos of other artists' work and am generating ideas for what I can do myself.

Mixing the Two Senses

Where does the impulse to be influenced by sounds and visions come from?
I want to explore how I interpret audio through my body motions and using elements to create something visual. But I want it to be on impulse. While commuting home late last night I imagined how I would do this using the experimental sounds my friends make in their band. Perhaps I would blindfold myself and let my hands and arm motions across a canvas with paint or charcoal do the visual interpretations of their sounds. Or maybe the strokes and the force of how the mediam is applied can be representing the sounds. I will just have to do it and see what I find. I can't wait to try it.

z

I recently visited the New Britain Museum of American Art with my family. I went to every corner with pen and paper in hand trying to become almost over exposed, over consumed, jotting down names and notes while trying to look smart about it. I had a lot of fun whispering with Sarah and Kyle, teasing ourselves with the idea that we could decide if the art pieces belonged in that place with no one to argue us. In the end, I fell in love with three artists in particular.
